Judiciary and the Arts: Celebrating Justice Through Student Art

We’re proud to share the amazing work from our Art and Ecology class, part of the Judiciary and the Arts partnership between select DOE middle and high schools and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. This unique program gives students a chance to explore the judiciary while expressing their creativity.

Our 9th-grade students created vibrant stamps using Copic markers and colored pencils that honor laws, landmark court rulings, justices, and attorneys dedicated to protecting the natural world. This environmental theme reflects the focus of our Art and Ecology class.

These powerful artworks are now on display at the Thurgood Marshall Courthouse, 40 Foley Square, as part of a special exhibition. We’re thrilled to see our students’ voices and talents showcased in such an important space!
